Who is Emily Weiss?

Emily Weiss is the Founder and CEO of Into The Gloss and Glossier, where she leads a team of 45 employees (and counting!) who are setting out to rethink, reclaim, and redefine beauty. Emily currently lives in New York City and is a former art student and Vogue staffer.

How Did it All Start?

Back in 2010, Emily launched a super successful beauty blog Into the Gloss after she felt like beauty brands were talking “at” her and that beauty shopping lacked any real women and real experiences. The blog soon gained readership, with the editors trying every beauty products, interviewing favourite icons like Kim Kardashian and models like Karlie Kloss, and taking a peek into their fancy medicine cabinets and daily routines.

This soon led to women sharing their skincare and makeup products, with many swapping suggestions and support. The site today has over 1.5 million unique views each month.

After this success, it only made sense for Emily to enter into the products world and behold Glossier. Here, she is using the collected knowledge of her community to craft products that women are actually seeking.

Their New Sunscreen and Why We All Want it!

In an announcement posted on Into the Gloss, Emily debuted their new sunscreen product Invisible Shield which has been two years in the making.

“Sunscreen has been our [number one] most requested product since the launch of Glossier,” she wrote. Adding, “Sunscreen is: Sticky. Heavy. Greasy. Pore clogging. Drying. Weird smelling. Chalky. Makeup interrupting,” Glossier wrote on Instagram. “Not anymore.” Cue the excitement.

The Invisible Shield, according to Emily, is a thin serum-like fluid that blocks all the sun’s rays- UVA and UVB, while also protecting the skin against free-radical damage and “other pollution grossness.” We have to admit, we can’t wait to get our hands on this product!
